Axia Audio is releasing an update for the Axia IP-Audio Driver for Windows, making a no-charge upgrade available to all licensed users.
Version 2.6.1.18 of the Axia IP-Audio Driver introduces improvements such as distinct profile and Autorun setting support for multiple Windows users, performance enhancements for users running WDM-mode audio drivers, and stability fixes to eliminate startup errors when loading instances with large I/O tables.
The IP-Audio Driver for Windows helps broadcasters reduce cost and cabling in-studio by eliminating the PC soundcards used in delivery system PCs, editing workstations and other playout systems. 32- and 64-bit Windows operating systems are supported, enabling users to connect audio workstations and playout PCs to their Axia networks via Ethernet.
The Axia IP-Audio Driver is available in two versions: the standard version with one stereo output and one stereo input; and an OEM version available from Axia delivery system partners, which provides up to 24 bi-directional stereo channels with GPIO. A Linux version is also available from Axia partner Paravel Systems.
Axia clients with the single-stream IP-Audio Driver may download v2.6.1.18 directly from the Axia website at AxiaAudio.com/downloads/ ; users with multi-stream versions should obtain the update directly from their delivery system provider. Axia allows broadcasters to quickly and easily build audio networks using switched Ethernet to connect a few rooms, or an entire facility. Axia networks have a total system capacity of more than 10,000 audio streams, and can carry hundreds of digital stereo channels (plus machine logic and PAD) over a single CAT-6 cable, eliminating much of the cost normally associated with wiring labor and infrastructure.
