| New CCU allows both wired and wireless delegate units to be integrated into one system |
To further strengthen its proven DCN next generation conferencing systems, Bosch Security Systems has launched a new and more powerful central control unit (CCU) that enables both wired and wireless delegate units to be integrated into the one same system for the first time.
Paul Ward, Head of Sales for Bosch’s Communication Products, says that the new CCU adds considerable power to an already powerful technology: “Just one CCU is capable of controlling up to 245 wired and 245 wireless delegate units,” he says. “What's more, an Ethernet connection to the control PC offers a method of bridging greater distances than the former RS 232 connection (maximum 15 metres) without the need for converters.”
With the new unit, Bosch has increased the number of system trunk outputs on the CCU from two to three to provide greater flexibility in connecting wired delegate units: “This is especially beneficial in some of the more challenging or unusual environments where conference facilities are required,” Paul says, “significantly reducing installation time and improving flexibility.” The cables can be secured to the system trunk outputs using special locking clips to prevent them from being pulled out accidentally.
The CCU has similarly been enhanced with the addition of several cost-saving features: the output power has been increased, enabling the CCU to drive more delegate units, and reducing the need and expense of additional power supplies in larger systems. The CCU can also be configured as a network controller, eliminating the expense of a dedicated network controller required in very large multi-CCU systems (with up to 4000 delegates).
“Operating with the latest DCN conference software, the new CCU provides conference organisers with an easy solution for setting up their conferences with maximum flexibility and expandability,” Paul concludes.
