Electro-Voice professional sound systems are now installed in RCTI. With more talent contests and live musical programs, professional audio systems are now as important as video equipment in TV stations.
With the increased usage for professional sound systems, the technical team at RCTI decided to have a permanent sound system installed in the studios instead of using rental systems that ultimately incur higher operating costs.
Electro-Voice distributor PT Infinite Audio Media was called upon to meet the requirements of four studios, two medium and two larger-sized studios. For the medium studios, mobile systems comprising various QRX models -- including QRX-212 tops and QRX-218 subs driven by DC-one and P3000 amplifiers – were recommended for their ease of mobility and excellent sound reproduction. The portable systems were configured for bi-amp operation to extract the best sound quality from both electronics and speakers.
For the larger studios, an XLD compact line array powered by FIR-Drive-equipped Dx46 signal processors and TG5 and TG7 Tour Grade amplifiers were proposed. The 3-way XLD system is driven by the best amplifiers for superior sound quality and headroom for the most demanding live performances. These are complemented with the Xsub, SxA250, and newly introduced ETX-15P as front fills and floor monitors.
To help facilitate new users to deploy the smaller system in different configurations, training was held once every three months to help users learn how to maximise the use of the new sound system. The hands-on training enables users to configure the DSP and deploy the speakers with the right connections. Today, sound systems play a pivotal role in TV production stages, and Electro-Voice continues making waves for the TV industry in Indonesia.
