Fire Solutions at IFSEC is offering free educational guidance on the fire protection evolution |
With a rising number of installers and specifiers beginning to address their projects as a whole security/fire entity, it is important that those considering making the move into fire protection are fully clued up on all aspects of this convergence. For this reason Fire Solutions at IFSEC International (14-17 May 2012), the world’s leading annual security and fire event, is offering free educational guidance on the fire protection evolution, on top of a wealth of fire safety products.
The UK’s definitive online resource for fire safety,www.infofire.com, will deliver an extensive seminar programme in the info4fire.com Learning Zone. Designed to help professionals understand more about the crossover between fire and security, and ensure attendees are brought right up-to-date with the latest standards, products and solutions the educational sessions include:
The Futures on fire: Move into fire protection – Mr Martin Duggan, General Manager, FIA, will discuss the crossovers between fire and security and offer practical advice for anyone wanting to make the move.
Integrating fire detection into building management systems – Ms Eva Kosanovic, Senior Product Manager, Apollo Fire Detectors, will discuss the challenges of integrating fire detection with other building management systems, and how successful integration can be achieved.
EN54 part 13 - Compatibility and interoperability in fire alarm systems – Mr David Wilson, Engineering Manager will present a must attend session on EN54 part 13, explaining what it is, and why it should be used.
Commenting on his seminar presentation, Martin Duggan, General Manager, Fire Industry Association (FIA), says: “Many security companies get involved in installing fire protection systems, however they need to know what their liability is and how to do it right. Fire is not the same as security!”
“Fire protection is all about escaping a building and intruder protection is all about ensuring the doors stay locked! What else is different between the two sectors and what do you need to know about the fire detection & alarm sector? The Fire Industry Association can provide the answers.”
The more diverse and complex the risks and the environment are to business, the more important it is to have a scalable and flexible solution that can manage all aspects of fire safety and security.
Located in Hall 3A at the NEC Birmingham, the Fire Solutions product area will also play host to the likes of Apollo Fire Detectors, Advanced Electronics, C-Tec, Kentec, Hochiki Europe, Tyco Fire Protection Products, EMS Radio Fire & Security, Teledata, The Fire Beam Company and Intertek who are amongst the many exhibitors set to showcase the newest industry innovations.
Gerry Dunphy, Sales Director for UBM Fire, said: “There is now an increased recognition that fire safety is a robust business area. Whilst CCTV is still a popular topic at IFSEC International, intruder alarms and fire detection is now high on the list too.
“IFSEC International 2012 will see the largest ever Fire Solutions area filled to the brim with innovative fire solutions for the end user and extensive industry knowledge for the installer. Both IFSEC International and Firex International (the biennial fire safety event) have long established histories in serving the fire and security markets and work in tandem with key industry associations such as the British Security Industry Association (BSIA) and the Fire Industry Association (FIA).”
