Universal Fire And Security have recently completed the upgrade of the fire alarm system in Windsor House Plymouth of Plymouth City Council. The existing fire alarm system of the 6 storey building needed upgrading to L2 requirements and Universal chose to use the Quatro networkable addressable system.
Universal were tasked with ensuring the fire alarm system was operational whilst at the same time carrying out phased upgrading throughout the building. Mark Gibson of Universal commented, “The fire system was critical to ensure the areas that continued to be occupied had full coverage whilst work was being carried out on unoccupied areas. The project started June 2012 and the final handover took place at the end of April 2013.”
The system comprised of 2 x Quatro 4 loop panels, 53 call points, 4 beam detectors and 212 smoke detectors with a mixture of sounder bases.
